The Teacher Collaborative Podcast

Season 7 of The Teacher Collaborative Podcast

We are thrilled to announce the launch of Season 7 (!) of The Teacher Collaborative Podcast. In the 2024 educational landscape, there is no shortage of debates swirling around the field. We hear about book banning and AI, standardized testing and the state of the field. We hear reports, read articles, and see teachers mentioned in the headlines. But, what we don’t hear is what teachers themselves have to say about these issues.

In Season 7, we wanted to feature, highlight, and learn from teachers. We’ll hear teachers’ takes on the hottest topics in education right now, and center teacher voices in the conversation for a change. We wanted to bring together small groups of teachers from across the state to dialogue with each other, share their perspectives, learn from their peers, and hopefully support our listeners, other teachers, in feeling that their voices, perspectives, and ideas are reflected in the hottest conversations being had in education right now.

Season 7, Episode 4—Surviving or Thriving? Helping New Teachers Succeed

Are you a new teacher who is feeling overwhelmed? A seasoned teacher worried about the future of the profession? Tune in to hear what three teachers have to say about how to support new teachers in finding joy, success, and opportunities for growth in the profession.

Season 7, Episode 3—AI In Schools: Is it Friend or Foe?

Season 7, Episode 2—The MCAS Issue

MCAS is a test that impacts teachers, students, schools, and families alike. Now, MCAS will be on the ballot this November, with voters deciding whether or not to remove MCAS as a graduation requirement for Massachusetts students.

Season 7, Episode 1—Teacher Autonomy: Whose Classroom Is It?

It seems like everyone has an opinion about what we teach, what we don’t and everything in between. But, where do teachers, the professionals and experts, the people responsible for their classrooms and the learning that happens within it, come into the conversation?

Tune in to hear what 3 teachers have to say about teacher autonomy, what they’ve learned over the years, and what they hope others can learn as well.

Season 6: The Teacher Identity

This season, we are going to explore the teacher identity and take a look at how and why a teacher’s job becomes a teacher’s life.

We’ll hear from teachers - in their own voices - about the joy and challenge they find in this intersection, how they navigate their time, and the tools they’ve developed to find the balance of it all.

Season 5: Change Makers

We’re proud to share Season 5 of The Teacher Collaborative Podcast, featuring teachers from across Massachusetts who have made change in their classrooms, schools, and beyond.

SEASON 4: Embracing Expertise

On Season 4, we talked to teachers who are embracing the expertise they’ve worked hard to develop. We’ll talk about teacher leadership, the future of the teaching profession, and what’s on the horizon as we close out the first—and hopefully last—full year of pandemic teaching.

SEASON 3: Share What’s Good

On Season 3, we feature innovative educators from across Massachusetts who are doing really good work in their classrooms, schools, and beyond.

SEASON 2: Small Wins + Big Ideas

No one could’ve imagined the pandemic we’re living through. Or how it would totally interrupt traditional schooling. But K-12 educators across the country are stepping up to meet the demands of this unprecedented moment.

In this season, you’ll hear your colleagues describe their hopes, fears, and breakthroughs—in their own words. They’ll share tips. They’ll offer resources. And they’ll do what teachers do best: inspire us to dream big.

Season 2 was recorded via Zoom and features over 30 teachers from across Massachusetts. We invited educators to conversations with each other and with teacher-hosts Dan Adler (middle school science, Up Academy Lawrence) and Chantei Alves (pre-K, Young Achievers K-8 School, Boston).
